Google Play & Age Verification

Modified on Mon, 20 Jul at 1:19 AM

Due to Google Play’s Age Signal system being implemented, as well as the recently passed Texas Age verification laws passing, Gems of War will be required to only be accessible to devices running Google Play 51 or higher.

To check what version of Google Play you are running:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right
  3. Go to Settings
  4. Tap About
  5. Look under Play Store version

This unfortunately means that devices which are unable to be updated to this version (irrelevant of location), may not be able to run Gems of War after 9.3 releases.

If you are affected by this, and you need any assistance recovering your Gems of War account on a newer device, we have some articles to walk you through moving your account over.

If you are getting ERROR_API_NOT_AVILABLE,you just need to update your Google Play Store version. It should trigger automatically but if it doesn’t you can do this in the app.

If you are getting stuck being unable to launch into Gems of War and you do have v51+, if you completely close Gems of War > Log out and back into your Google Play account via the app > Only after logging back in, relaunching Gems of War, you may be able to access the game again.

For players using non-native Google Play devices, such as Huawei phones:

You will need to have both the Google Play app and the Google Play Services (via System Services) installed on your device, to be able to complete the verification process.

Because Gems of War is supported via Google Play, downloading Gems of War via direct APK or sideloading is not innately supported by us.
